Götheborg is a replica of a vessel, owned by The Swedish East India Company, formed in 1731 in Gothenburg. The Swedish East India Company was trading tea, porcelain and silk in China.On the homeward voyage from China one of the Company's ships foundered in 1745. When almost in home-port, the ship ran aground on a well-known underwater rock. It rapidly took on water and sank.The SOIC (Svenska Ostindiska Companiet) was formed in 1993 in order to recreate a copy of the foundered vessel.The Götheborg was built with the main dimensions, alignments, hull and rigging in conformity with a Swedish East Indiaman of the 18th century.The launching took place on June 6th, the Swedish National Day, year 2003. The maiden voyage is expected to depart from Gothenburg in 2005 and will take about two years.

The Oseberg was found in Norway at Oseberg in Vestfold in 1903, resting on a bed of blue clay and covered with turf and stones. The Oseberg was built in the last half of the 800's and was buried roughly 50 years later. The ship is some 50 to 100 years older than similar vessels which have been found. It lay deep in the water and must have been relatively dangerous under sail.

The Zwarte Zee was built in 1963 at J. & K. Smit's Scheepswerven N.V. in Kinderdijk, Holland. Length 77.50 m, breadth 12.35 m, draught 6.90 m and gross tonnage 1,539 tons. Driven by two Smit-M.A.N. turbo diesel engines yielding 9,000 HP. These machines drive a single propeller shaft through Vulcan fluid clutches and reduction gears. When a fast manoeuver is necessary, one of the engines can drive forwards, the other reverse. Speed 18 knots.

A typical Danish seiner, with a gross tonnage of 63.43 and built in 1929/1930 at the Nyborg Shipyard in Denmark. The ship was sold to the Faroe Islands in 1930 as the "Sjóstjørnan" TG II. After a period of 20 years with various owners and names, the ship was sold to Iceland in 1950, and was now called "Arnanes".

Billings 1/50 Hoga Pearl Harbour Tug (B708)

This tug boat was approved by the American navy on 22 May 1941 and given the name "YT146 HOGA". It was then posted with the 14th navy station at Pearl Harbor. After only six months in service, the HOGA was put to a far greater test than had been expected, when Pearl Harbor was attacked on 7 December 194l. The HOGA fought without break for 48 hours, extinguishing fires, tugging bombed warships and rescuing seamen. Today the HOGA is the only vessel still in existence from the time of the Japanese attack.

Billings Boeierc (B712)

One of the greatest Boeier builders, Eeltje Holtrop van der Zee from Friesland, built a Boeier in the town of Joure in 1886. The ship was built for a Mr. A.E. Jürjens and was given the name "Sperwer". The vessel was intended as a "Pleziervaartuig", in other words as a pleasure yacht. This type of ship was originally also used for coastal navigation. The newspaper "Hamburger Kronikken" from 1525 gives an account of an unbelievable adventure, in which Mr. Herman Evers had sailed with a Boeier with smack sails to England in Easter that year.
