Airfix 1/600 HMS Manxman and HMS Suffolk Twin Pack WW2 (04214)
HMS Suffolk and HMS Manxmen both carried three funnels, and were a couple of the Royal Navy's work horses of WW2. The kit of HMS Manxman has 78 pieces producing a model 212mm long while that of HMS Suffolk has 128 to arrive at a length of 320mm.
HMS Suffolfk was an eight inch gunned County class heavy cruiser. At 7.22pm on 23rd May, the cruiser HMS Suffolk sighted the German ships Bismarck and Prinz Eugen seven miles ahead of it in the Denmark Strait. The drama began!
A minelayer of the fast (38 knots) Abdiel class, HMS Manxman became famous for making high speed runs through the Mediterranean with supplies for Malta when that island was under siege.
