The clipper Cutty Sark represents one of the most romantic ages in the history of ocean travel. She was launched on the River Clyde, Scotland, in the year 1869, and spent most of her time transporting goods around the world. In 1885, she beat the Thermopylae in a famous race from Australia to England. The Cutty Sark made the trip in 73 days, the Thermopylae took 80 days. Today, the Cutty Sark retains the glamour of her wind-blown past. Resting in dry berth in Greenwich, England, the Cutty Sark lives on as the last link to an age when the proud and beautiful clippers ruled the seas.

The Savannah was the first nuclear powered cargo/passenger ship in the world, built by the NY Shipbuilding Corp. in Camden, USA. She was launched in March 1962 and thus demonstrated for the first time the technical possibilities of nuclear powered merchant vessels. However, it was never the intention to be commercially competitive. The Savannah had a capacity of 14,000 tons and could accommodate 60 passengers and a 124 men crew. The cruising speed was 21 knots and the fuel store was sufficient for an uninterrupted stretch of 336,000 nautical miles (622,608 km). For passenger operation she even had comfortable rooms, a cinema, a library and a swimming pool. The Savannah was taken out of service in 1972.

Next to the Tirpitz the Bismarck, the flag-ship of the Germany Navy, was the largest German warship with a displacement of 50,900 tons and a crew of 2092 men. Put into service on 24.08.1940, she left port on 18.05.1941 for operation "Rhine Exercise". Together with the Prinz Eugen she was discovered early by British reconnaissance planes. In the encounter with the Hood on 24.05.1941 the latter was sunk by the Bismarck. After a long chase the Bismarck was hit by an aircraftfired torpedo on 26.05.1941 and intercepted by the British battleships King George V and Rodney. On 27.05.1941 the Bismarck was sunk by her won crew 490 km off the French coast.

The nuclear-powered Enterprise is the first aircraft carrier of its kind and counts among the largest vessels ever built. The gigantic aircraft was put into service on 25.11.1961. Eight watercooled reactors generate a total power output of 300,000 HP with which the vessels achieves an average speed of 35 knots. She displaces 75,700 tons. The aircraft deck measures 76.8 m in width. On average there are 414 officers and 4260 crew on board. Since her nuclear power system makes the Enterprise independent of external supplies, it was possible to provide large fuel depots for the ship's aircraft. The largest and most modern aircraft of the US Navy can be operated from the Enterprise.

This plastic model kit builds a highly detailed model of the tug Waker, an emergency towing vessel in service with the Netherland Coastguard. A one-piece hull is supplied together with many accessories, exhibition stand and decals.

Built in 1976 as Smit Houston, this 16.000ihp tug was been chartered in 1990 to Greenpeace by the owners SmitWijs. The crane of the foredeck has been removed to make way for the extension of the top of the forecastle into a helicopter deck capable of carrying a total weight of 4 tons.
Renamed Waker in 1995 by the next owner, SWI, the ship, stationed at Den Helder, will remain at least until 2010 with the Netherlands Coastguard as an emergency toweing vessel.

The ship, chartered by its present owner Svitzer, has a length of 67.50 m with 6.23 m of draught. Propelled by two 6-cylinder Stork Werkspoor diesel engines with a capacity of 2 x 4.600 HP (2 x 3.380 kW), it reaches the operational speed of 14 knots.

She is the superlative passenger liner. With 150,000 GRT the Cunard Line's Queen Mary 2 is one of the largest passenger liners ever built. Up to 2,620 passenger scan be accommodated on 14 luxuriously appointed passenger decks. The Queen Elizabeth 2 was for 35 years the flag ship of the British Cunard Line, until she was superseded by the Queen Mary 2 in 2004. Today the QE2 lies permanently at Dubai and is currently being converted into a hotel.

One of the most famous ships in the history of seafaring, HMS Bounty, was known for the bold mutiny that took place on this sailing shop. In 1787 Captain William Bligh was given the mission of taking bread fruit trees from Tahiti to the West Indies. Captain Bligh ruled with an iron hand and kept on reducing the rations of the crew. On 28 April 1789 this resulted in the famous mutiny. Bligh and 18 faithful crew members were cast off in a boat. The remaining crew decided to remain in the region and settled on Pitcairn Island. To avoid discovery, the Bounty was then burned in 1790.
