The PT 117 belonged to the smallest, fastest and most manoeuvrable combat vessels of the US Marine Cops, the patrol torpedo boats also known as mosquitos because they "stung" the enemy at high speed. Four 2500hp heavy-duty supercharged engines (12 cyl. Packard) gave the boat a maximum speed of 50 knots. In addition, these boats featured specially designed hulls (50t displacement) allowing the boats to glide over the water. Fitted with 4 torpedos, 4 MGs and an anti-aircraft gun, they were a serious threat to the enemy especially in the restricted island waters of the Pacific. However, designed for operation in qualm waters and a high fuel consumption proved major disadvantages.

The clipper Cutty Sark represents one of the most romantic ages in the history of ocean travel. She was launched on the River Clyde, Scotland, in the year 1869, and spent most of her time transporting goods around the world. In 1885, she beat the Thermopylae in a famous race from Australia to England. The Cutty Sark made the trip in 73 days, the Thermopylae took 80 days. Today, the Cutty Sark retains the glamour of her wind-blown past. Resting in dry berth in Greenwich, England, the Cutty Sark lives on as the last link to an age when the proud and beautiful clippers ruled the seas.

In 1/400 scale, the Revell model of the Queen Mary II (approx. measures: L = 84 cm / W = 10.5 cm / H = 20 cm) shows all details of the big ocean liner in perfect quality as usual.

The Savannah was the first nuclear powered cargo/passenger ship in the world, built by the NY Shipbuilding Corp. in Camden, USA. She was launched in March 1962 and thus demonstrated for the first time the technical possibilities of nuclear powered merchant vessels. However, it was never the intention to be commercially competitive. The Savannah had a capacity of 14,000 tons and could accommodate 60 passengers and a 124 men crew. The cruising speed was 21 knots and the fuel store was sufficient for an uninterrupted stretch of 336,000 nautical miles (622,608 km). For passenger operation she even had comfortable rooms, a cinema, a library and a swimming pool. The Savannah was taken out of service in 1972.

After the sinking of the Bismarck the Tirpitz was the only large battleship of the German Navy. Put into service on 25.02.1941, she carried a crew of 2,608 men and had a displacement of 52,600 tons. In 1942 she was transferred to Norway where operated from fjord bases against British convoys. Numerous British air attacks caused only minor damage, whereas an attack by 3 British mini U-boats on 22.09.1943 proved more successful. British noval planes caused major damage to the Tirpitz on 03.04.1944. Finally, on 12.11.1944, 36 British bombers achieved three direct hits, causing the Tirpitz to capsize with loss of 1204 men.

Next to the Tirpitz the Bismarck, the flag-ship of the Germany Navy, was the largest German warship with a displacement of 50,900 tons and a crew of 2092 men. Put into service on 24.08.1940, she left port on 18.05.1941 for operation "Rhine Exercise". Together with the Prinz Eugen she was discovered early by British reconnaissance planes. In the encounter with the Hood on 24.05.1941 the latter was sunk by the Bismarck. After a long chase the Bismarck was hit by an aircraftfired torpedo on 26.05.1941 and intercepted by the British battleships King George V and Rodney. On 27.05.1941 the Bismarck was sunk by her won crew 490 km off the French coast.

The nuclear-powered Enterprise is the first aircraft carrier of its kind and counts among the largest vessels ever built. The gigantic aircraft was put into service on 25.11.1961. Eight watercooled reactors generate a total power output of 300,000 HP with which the vessels achieves an average speed of 35 knots. She displaces 75,700 tons. The aircraft deck measures 76.8 m in width. On average there are 414 officers and 4260 crew on board. Since her nuclear power system makes the Enterprise independent of external supplies, it was possible to provide large fuel depots for the ship's aircraft. The largest and most modern aircraft of the US Navy can be operated from the Enterprise.

This plastic model kit builds a highly detailed model of the tug Waker, an emergency towing vessel in service with the Netherland Coastguard. A one-piece hull is supplied together with many accessories, exhibition stand and decals.

Built in 1976 as Smit Houston, this 16.000ihp tug was been chartered in 1990 to Greenpeace by the owners SmitWijs. The crane of the foredeck has been removed to make way for the extension of the top of the forecastle into a helicopter deck capable of carrying a total weight of 4 tons.
Renamed Waker in 1995 by the next owner, SWI, the ship, stationed at Den Helder, will remain at least until 2010 with the Netherlands Coastguard as an emergency toweing vessel.

The ship, chartered by its present owner Svitzer, has a length of 67.50 m with 6.23 m of draught. Propelled by two 6-cylinder Stork Werkspoor diesel engines with a capacity of 2 x 4.600 HP (2 x 3.380 kW), it reaches the operational speed of 14 knots.

The USS Ronald Reagan CVN-76 is the ninth aircraft carrier of the Nimitz Class and is also the most modern vessel of this type. She was called after the 40th President of the United States of America who died on 5th June 2004. Compared with her sister ships this vessel has a number of electronic modifications such as an integrated communications system. The most striking external alternation however is the island; it is larger and higher than its predecessors, of more angular design and also 600 tonnes heavier. The vessel was launched on 5th March 2001 and went into service on 12th July 2003. She has an overall length of 332.85 metres. This carrier has a full load displacement of over 100,000 tonnes, reaches a speed of over 30 knots and can operate for about 20 years on one charge of uranium. She is powered by two nuclear reactors supplying four main engines that operate four five-bladed screws. The carrier is equipped with 4 catapults. The air group consists of over 85 aircraft. The USS Ronald Reagan has a crew of about 3200 seamen and needs 2480 additional people for flying operations.

The heavy, fast and heavily armed Project 949A ANTEY (NATO: SSGN of the OSCAR II class) submarines were used by the Soviet fleet, and now by the Russian Navy, for attacking surface shipping. They were specially designed to fight the U.S. Navy's aircraft carrier battle groups. Their high submerged speed allowed them to keep pace with the fast carrier battle groups and attack them with salvos of their 24 P-700 GRANIT (NATO: SS-N-19 SHIPWRECK) cruise missiles that can be launched underwater. NATO is well aware of the great danger presented by this class of submarine. The KURSK joined the Russian fleet in 1994 and served in the North Fleet. During its service the KURSK undertook two combat patrols in the Atlantic and in the Mediterranean. Following the detonation of torpedo warheads on 12. August 2000 the submarine sank, taking the lives of all crew aboard. The hull was raised in 2001 and scrapped. Displacement, submerged: 23,860 t; Maximum diving depth: 600 m; Maximum speed, submerged: 33 kts; Endurance: 120 days.
