| > Wooden Ship Kits > Mantua & other Kits | Most wooden boat kits require skill and patience in assembly. Usually the easiest to build, some are supplied with either solid or plastic ABS hulls and masts and rig are the hardest part. The most usual form of construction is plank on frame and that requires the most patience and skill.
All the current models we supply are complete with fittings, although most will require glues and finishing tools.
Remember! If on examination you feel you would prefer another model, you are free to return any item for a full refund, providing of course that it hasn’t been started. | Corel HMS Greyhound English Frigate (SM59)
The H.M.S. Greyhound model features plank-on-frame construction in laser cut wood. The hull uses flexible lime-wood strips for the first planking and dark walnut for the second. Fittings include ready-to-use blocks and deadeyes, blackened metal anchors, brass rods and nails, and gilded metal stern and bow decorations. Britannia metal gunports and lifeboat are expertly cast. Twenty burnished metal cannon on wooden carriages sit on the main deck. Kit is complete with wooden display board and cradle, four sheets of plans and illustrated instruction manual. Length 17” Height 12-1/2" Scale 1:96 Intermediate Level
The three-masted 20-gun H.M.S. Greyhound was launched at Deptford on February 13, 1720. Her mission was to fight the pirates that plagued the Mediterranean coast. Although she was graceful and sleek, she was no match for the more agile and heavily armed pirate ships. | |
