The Germans referred to this class of ships as "Heavy Cruisers, Second Class" but with deck armour and no belt, the Royal Navy would have described them as "Protected Cruisers". The German Navy was always short of men and with no obvious role in the North Sea, they were disarmed and used as Accommodation and School Ships after 1916. Number in class:5.

This model is second hand and is a Navis standard model (not a superdetailed "N" model). The paint finish shows it to be a late production standard model and the previous owner has painted the black plastic masts grey and trimmed the yards. The ship is modelled with 2 funnels, after reconstruction in 1910.
