The K class submarines were notorious for having steam turbine propulsion and some of them sank because the funnel seals were not properly closed when diving. They were capable of keeping up with the battlefleet when on the surface, which is what they were designed to do. The model has the revised bow, designed to improve sea keeping at fleet speeds. | |
