The Royal Navy returned to the Flow in time to beach Baden. She was re-floated and was used for trials. It was found that the armour was not of better quality and that the 15" guns were not as powerful as the British equivalent. Subdivision and pumping capacity were better than British designed ships and lessons learnt were applied in the design of Rodney & Nelson.
