Politician became famous because of her end in 1941. She ran aground in Eriksay Sound in the Outer Hebrides and was declared a total loss when refloated. It is said that whisky formed part of the cargo but little of it remained when she was refloated. The much altered story was made into a book and a film after the war! | |
