Slamat sailed in the form shown in this model until 1931 when the steam turbines were replaced by diesels and the straight stem was changed for a lengthened Maierform bow (cut away below the waterline; the opposite of a bulbous bow!) to improve operating economy. In 1940, she became a troopship for BMWT and was sunk whilst evacuating British troops from Greece. | |
