Hermes had already replaced Albion in the LPH role when the Sea Harrier was being developed. She was fitted with a ski jump to allow Harriers to take off with bigger loads and this was the salvation of the Falklands Campaign in 1982.
Hermes was transferred to the Indian Navy, where she is still based awaiting replacement by a Russian Carrier! | |
