Mercator 1/1250 SS Amerika, a Hamburg-Amerika Liner, 1905 (M413)
Designed to compete with Celtic & Cedric of the White Star Line on the North Atlantic, she too was a product of Harland & Wolf and was the largest ship on the Atlantic when she entered service.!
America was interned during WW1 until she was requesitioned as a US Troopship. After the war she served the United States Lines as "America". At the start of WW2 she was laid up and her name was taken by a new ship but she returned to trooping as "Edmund B Alexander". Laid up again after the end of the war, she was finally scrapped in 1958!
