One of the famous NDL four funnel liners that competed for the Atlantic trade early in the 20th century. In 1914, she became an armed merchant cruiser but, running short of fuel, she was interned at Newport News in the USA. When America entered the war, she was used for trooping under the name "von Steuben". After the war she sailed briefly as "United States" but was broken up in 1923 at Boston. | |
