Triton 1/1250 HMS Victorious, British Aircraft Carrier in final configuration (R1021P)
Victorious was chosen to be re-fitted with an angled deck rather than the later fleet carriers because their double-decked hangers were not tall enough to accommodate high-tailed jet planes! She was our most capable fleet carrier in the 1960s.
Whilst being re-fitted again in the late 1960s, she caught fire and was damaged sufficiently that she became a victim of a round of defence cuts!
