| > Waterline 1:1250 Ships > Mercator | | Mercator was originally produced in German and then taken over by Skytrex. Many of the original German models are still available but Skytrex have stopped producing their own castings for the moment so where there is no stock newer models are no longer being made. | Mercator 1/1200 HMS Prince Albert, the first turret ship in the Royal Navy (1868) ()
Prince Albert was built in 1864. The model shows the hurricane deck over the forward turrets and so represents the ship after 1868. Prince Albert remained on the "effective" list at the express wish of Queen Victoria until 1899, long after it was any use whatsoever! | |
