Mercator was originally produced in German and then taken over by Skytrex. Many of the original German models are still available but Skytrex have stopped producing their own castings for the moment so where there is no stock newer models are no longer being made.
Mercator 1/1250 SS Kronprinz Wilhelm, NDL Liner (1901) (M426)
One of the famous NDL four funnel liners that competed for the Atlantic trade early in the 20th century. In 1914, she became an armed merchant cruiser but, running short of fuel, she was interned at Newport News in the USA. When America entered the war, she was used for trooping under the name "von Steuben". After the war she sailed briefly as "United States" but was broken up in 1923 at Boston.
