You can only enthuse about the quality of these superb  1:1250 merchantmen. Until the end of 2003 Carat operated in conjunction with Classic Ship Collection but both both are now independent and produce models with good definition and excellent definition in the fine detail.
Carat 1/1250 SS Praesident, HAPAG West Indies "Ferry", 1905 (001 WL WF)
The model is in tropical livery, fully rigged and has handrails on the upper deck and awnings on the bridge deck.
Completed in November 1905, Praesident sailed for the West Indies on 9th December 1905. On the outbreak of WW1, she became the West Indies Radio Station Ship but by December 1914 she was laid up in San Juan. In 1917, when USA entered the war, she was taken over as a naval transport and re-named "Kittery". Laid up, out of service, in 1933, she was scrapped in Baltimore in 1937.
