You can only enthuse about the quality of these superb 1:1250 merchantmen. Until the end of 2003 Carat operated in conjunction with Classic Ship Collection but both both are now independent and produce models with good definition and excellent definition in the fine detail.

Carat 1/1250 Nabob, a German Freighter, 1960 (087 WL WF)
Built in America in 1943 as a Lease-Lend Ruler Class Escort Carrier, HMS Nabob, she was uniquely rebuilt as a freighter and given her old name back!

HMS Nabob was torpedoed in 1944 in the Firth of Forth by U354. She survived but was not repaired before being handed back to the USA. The flight deck was removed and she was sent to Germany for breaking. Here she was given a new lease of life and in 1952 she was back in service as a NDL freighter. Transferred to Roland Line in 1959 and with a name change to "Glory" to Chi Shihi Nav. Co.in 1967, she was finally broken up at the end of 1977!
