Emily had this ship built in Germany during the depression. The largest private yacht in the world, the outcry among the American public caused her tax affairs to be investigated and she took refuge on the ship. Tiring of her self-imposed exile, she put Savarona up for sale, turned down an offer from Hitler and sold it to the Turks as a State Yacht.
