during the late 60's H,B&H of Newton - le - Willows, Lancashire became well known for their maximum length drawbar outfits hauled by Leyland 8 wheelers. Typical of these was the ' Power Plus ' Octopus built between 1960 and 1965. 

The classic Atkinson Borderer features the later British Rail livery that succeeded the old ‘blood and custard’ of the original privatised railways. This was preceded by an all over maroon scheme and replaced around 1961 with a plain fawn livery.Finally came the all over yellow design incorporating the red 'arrows of decision' logo.

The name of Pickfords has been synonymous with transport for a very long time.Some think that James Pickford was the founder in the early part of the 18th century, while others beleive that a certain Will Pickford was the original carrier, and he was in business a century earlier.During the 70s the Bedford TK was widely used and a new livery was adopted for the fleet.The old dark blue body was retained but a script style of lettering was used along with a waistband of varying colour to designate the particular service.
