Originally designed by local boat builders in the villages of Klitmøller and Vorupør around 1930, the design has remained unchanged, except that the ship now is a few feet longer and has a closed wheel house.

This ship is a 50-foot steam pinnace from around the middle of the 19th Century. These boats had a small forecastle, a room for the crew, a boiler room and a cabin. Above the crews' quarters was a conical steel base with a permanent universal ring, on which a 3-lb quick-firing cannon or maxim machine gun could be mounted.

The 280-ton sailing barge 'Will Everard' was built for F.T. Everard & Sons in Great Yarmouth in 1925/6. The ship is owned today by P & O Containers Ltd. In 1982, Northern Europe's most beautiful captain, according to the press, took command of the ship - 24-year-old Sue Harrison, who had obtained her Master's Certificate in 1979.

Advanced Beginner kit to build a model of the St. Roch, a vessel built in North Vancouver in 1928 specifically for sailing in Arctic waters. It was the first ship to sail through the North-West Passage from the Pacific to the Atlantic. In the summer of 1944 the St. Roch sailed from Halifax to Vancouver, thereby becoming the first ship to complete the journey in both directions.

Advanced Beginner plank-on-frame model kit of the three-masted topsail sail training schooner 'Sir Winston Churchill'. The kit features accurately laser cut keel and frame components, plus full scale plans and English instructions are supplied.
The Schooner was built in 1965 at the Richard Dunston Ltd. (Hessle, Yorks) forr the Sail Training Association in Bosham. The 'Sir Winston Churchill' is also equiped with a 240bhp engine to assist with manouvering in harbour and a total sail area of 817sqm. The main-crew consists of 11 men, including 8 officers, and can accomodate up to 44 trainees.

The most famous of all tea clippers, the Cutty Sark is today preserved for posterity at a dry dock in Greenwich. Built to transport tea from China, she was designed by Hercules Linton, whose ambition it was to outstrip the Termopylae, the fastest ship of the times.

In the old days, ships that were used on inland waters, were build with flat bottoms to enable them to sail in shallow waters. To prevent them from drifting sideways with the wind, they were fitted with leeboards that could be raised or lowered as the situation demanded.One of these flat-bottomed ships was the Frisian Tjalk or Skûtsje. Every year a regatta of several days is being held on the Frisian lakes, in which the Skûtsjes of different towns complete for the honour to win the race for their hometown.

A Dutch yacht from 1914. Length 8 m, breadth 3 m. These vessels were originally designed to meet the need for less expensive fishing boats. As the fishing industry experienced difficult times on the Zuider Zee, the ships in use at the time were too expensive both to purchase and to maintain.

MRB 20 "Emile Robin" was delivered from the North Sea Shipyard in Ringkøbing, Denmark, in 1989. The lifeboat was named after the Parisian merchant Emile Robin, a philanthropist, cognac manufacturer and vice-president of the French charity La Société Centrale de Sauvetage des Naufragés (Society for the Salvation of Shipwrecks). Emile Robin is one of the most important benefactors in the 150 year history of the Danish Lifeboat Service. MRB 20 "Emile Robin" is permanently stationed at the lifeboat station in Hvide Sande, on the western coast of Denmark.

A three-masted warship launched in 1765. Length 48.93 m, breadth 9.70 m, draught 5.07 m, displacement 1,076 tons, with a crew of 402. The Norske Løve was originally named after the Norwegian/Danish coat-of-arms, and was renamed the Øresund in 1772. The vessel was used as a guardboat in the Øresund and other coastal waters around Denmark. The ship was deleted from the naval register in 1798.

A thre-masted royal ship launched in 1627. Length 70.00 m, breadth 11,50 m, draught 4,80 m, displacement 1,400 tons, sail area 1,150 m2, with a crew of 133 sailors and 300 soldiers. On its maiden voyage in 1628, the Wasa sank in the Stockholm harbour. Using a primitive diving bell, 53 of the ship's 64 cannons were salvaged in 1664. The ship itself was lifted from the sea on 24th April 1961, and the Wasa Museum was opened the following year.

Lilla Dan was built in 1951 at the well-known shipyard in Svendborg, Denmark, by J. Ring Andersen, and constructed mainly of oak and beach. Lilla Dan is owned by the shipping company Lauritzen in Copenhagen and does duty today both as a training ship and for chartered tours.

A three-masted galleon launched in 1615. Length 19.50 m, breadth 7.95 m, draught 3.35 m and a displacement of 180 tons. The first information about the Mayflower dates from 6th September 1620. After a number of difficulties, the vessel sailed from Plymouth in England with 102 men, women and children on board. After 67 days at sea, the Mayflower cast anchor at the port later to be called Provincetown - almost 200 miles further north than planned. Mayflower II was built in l957 in Brixham, Devon and sailed to the USA, where it is now permanently anchored as a gift to the American nation.

The Smit Nederland was built in 1979 at the BV Scheepswerft & Machinefebriek "De Merwede" in Hardinzveld, Holland. Length 28.40 m, breadth 8,85 m, draught 3.85 m. The vessel is driven by two "Stork Werkspoor" diesel engines, whose 1000 rpm yield 1800 HP. Top speed is 12 knots; the acting radius is 2,250 miles. A special detail of this ship is the propellors, which are equipped with reversible blades in jet streams, and two basin rudders which ensure good manoeuvrability.

The Calypso was built in the USA in 1942 as a minesweeper. She was bought in 1950 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau, and after extensive changes and modifications has become a fully equipped ocean research vessel, complete with observation chamber in the stern, oval diving bell, Galaezzi diving chamber, inflatable boat for shallow waters, helicopter and much other submarine equipment. Length 42 m, tonnage 360 tons, speed 12 knots
